The iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are rumored to share the vast majority of design decisions with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but with a key change that could inevitably mean the handsets are slightly thicker than this year’s smartphones.
According to a report from Giga Apple, based on alleged specification documents the publication received and information gained from an unnamed case maker, the iPhone 7s will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 7. The report indicates the upcoming handset will be at least 0.1mm thicker. More than, the iPhone 7s is said to have a slight increase in all dimensions, so not just in thickness.
The reason why the iPhone 7s will allegedly be a bit thicker this year is due to the inclusion of a glass front and back, with the aluminum frame connecting them. If it does turn out to be the case, the iPhone 7s will measure in at 7.21mm, compared to the 7.1mm thick iPhone 7. Of course, while it is technically getting thicker, it shouldn’t be a huge change, and it’s likely that many people wouldn’t even notice — even if they upgrade directly to the iPhone 7s from the iPhone 7.
We’ve seen the iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus, leaked a few times, especially most recently, in the form of dummy units giving us a look at that glass-backed design. With the choice between the iPhone 7s/7s Plus and the iPhone 8 rumored for this year, which way are you leaning?
