I have been switching between the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus for the first few weeks, but for the last week or so, I have been using the iPhone X exclusively, and one of the things that I have been impressed with it, is the battery life.
When Apple launched iPhone X, the company claimed that the new iPhone “lasts up to two hours longer than iPhone 7”. While it is difficult to confirm it as I have been using the iPhone 7 Plus, it seems to be even better than the iPhone 7 Plus, which has been a pleasant surprise.
I have been able to get through the day with my iPhone X with some charge left. I used to have trouble getting through the day without charging my iPhone 7 Plus.
iPhone X teardown had confirmed that it comes with a massive 2716 mAh battery compared to iPhone 8’s 1821 mAh battery and iPhone 8 Plus’ 2675 mAh. There have been some concerns that iPhone X’ OLED screen and features like Face ID will consume more battery, but the bigger battery and more power efficient A11 Bionic chips seem to have helped improve battery life, which has been one of the complaints with most iPhone models.
But having said that, battery life is quite subjective as it based on your usage pattern. As you can see in the graph below, Arstechnica found iPhone X battery life to be about the same as the iPhone 7 running iOS 11.
