Apple has announced a huge new feature for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite called Handoff, which allows Macintosh laptops and iOS devices to communicate in ways previously not possible. The feature lets you share things like documents, email, and even phone calls between devices, making for an even more seamless experience.

With Handoff, you can press a single button on either system to send something you’re working on, like an email, to another connected device. This lets you pick up your work in live time.

Interestingly, one of the main features that Apple demoed was the ability to do things like answer phone calls from your Mac. Previously, text messages and phone calls coming from people without iOS devices would be stuck on the device they were received, but Handoff sends this information to other devices, allowing you to do things like answer non-iMessages from the messages app on your Mac.
