Snapchat takes screenshots very seriously. If you take a screenshot of a snap in DM, it will notify the user immediately. If you take a screenshot of a public story, it will be visible in their stats screen. And on the iPhone, there are no reliable third-party tools to secretly screenshot or save a Snapchat story. But there are a couple of workarounds and tricks that still work. Read on to find out how to secretly screenshot Snapchat Stories on iPhone.
Secretly Screenshot Snapchat Stories on iPhone
1. Just Use Another Phone
The most reliable way of capturing what is on the iPhone screen on a Snapchat Story without letting the other person know is to use another device with a camera. Just point it to the iPhone screen, take a picture or record the video.
2. Clear The Cache
One trick that works is to clear the cache from Snapchat’s app after viewing the story. For this to work, you’ll have to follow the steps very specifically.
Step 1: First, open the Snapchat app and wait for it to load the snap that you want to screenshot. But don’t open the snap directly.
Step 2: Open the Control Center and turn on Airplane mode so both Data and Wi-Fi are disconnected.
Step 3: Now, open the snap and take the screenshot.
Step 4: Don’t turn off Airplane mode yet. Now you need to clear the cache. Go to your profile, tap on Settings -> Clear Cache -> Clear All.
Now Snapchat will restart. You can turn off Airplane mode now. The other user won’t get a notification about the screenshot.
3. Workaround: AirPlane Mode + iPhone Restart
If you feel like the cache clearing option isn’t reliable or if it isn’t working for you, there’s a workaround for it.
The steps 1 to 3 are the same as outlined above.
After you take the screenshot, press and hold the Side button + Volume Down button on iPhone X so that the Power Off menu comes up. If you’re using an older iPhone, just press and hold the Power button. Then swipe on the Slide to Power Off slider. The phone will turn off. Reboot again and open Snapchat. You’ll see that there’s no record of you taking the screenshot.
4. Most Reliable Secretive Method: Use QuickTime on Mac
If you don’t want to reset the cache or reboot your iPhone every time you take a screenshot and you want high-quality screenshot and video recording of snaps, there’s only one reliable to download snapchat Stories from your iPhone. It’s to use QuickTime on your Mac to record the iPhone screen. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your Mac and open QuickTime.
Step 2: From the menu bar, click on File > New Movie Recording.
Step 3: Click on the arrow button next to the Record button and switch the source to your iPhone.
Step 4: Now click on the Record button and then open the snap in question. Once done, click on the Record button again to stop the recording. You can save the video now and edit it if you want.
