iPhone 6s Plus Poetic Revolution case

I have never really been a fan of cases. I find that they add unnecessary weight and just make a device look obnoxious. Yes, they do a great job at protecting your precious smartphone from day-to-day dings and drops, but for me, that’s not a sacrifice that I am willing to make.

However, every once in a while I do feel the need to use a case with my phone when I know there is a high probability that I will end up dropping it. Usually, when I go for a run, I end up dropping my iPhone (or whichever phone I am using at that point) at least once. As they say, experience (and broken displays) makes one wiser and smarter, and so I started using a cheap TPU case whenever I took my iPhone with me on my runs.

Recently, I got the Poetic Revolution case for the iPhone 6s Plus for review and decided to take it for a spin. The case is made from polycarbonate and TPU materials and features a kickstand at its rear that can hold the iPhone in both portrait and landscape mode. It also comes with a screen protector and flaps for all ports that adds a limited amount of water resistant capabilities to it.

For someone who hates cases, the first impression of the Poetic Revolution was pretty good. The case had a built-like-a-tank feeling, though yes, it did not exactly look slim or minimalistic in anyway.

Inserting the iPhone in the case turned out to be quite a challenge, and even after reading the instructions that were supplied with the case, I had to Google the process. After a lot of bending things here and there and applying a lot of force, I managed to insert my iPhone 6s Plus inside Revolution, but the whole experience was less than pleasant.

With the case properly installed, my iPhone 6s Plus did not really look or feel like an iPhone or even a smartphone to be honest. It looked more like a device that was supposed to be used in a rugged environment. But on the flip side, the case provided so much protection that I was sure that nothing would happen to my iPhone even if a car ran over it.

While all the protection offered by Poetic’s Revolution case is nice, it does make the phone bulky and large. The iPhone 6s Plus is already a difficult phone to use one-handed, and with this case installed, using the phone one-handed was almost impossible. The kickstand at the rear of the case is definitely a nice addition, especially while travelling since it allows you to put the iPhone in landscape mode and then sit back and watch a movie or two in a flight.

Now, while I did not conduct any scientific test, I can definitely vouch for the fact that the Poetic Revolution will do a mighty fine job of protecting your iPhone from any serious drop. I dropped my iPhone repeatedly from shoulder height and thanks to the case, the phone emerged unscathed from these drops. I can imagine using the Poetic Revolution every once in a while on my iPhone 6s Plus — like when I go out for trekking or any other adventure sports. With such impeccable protection, I will have complete peace of mind whenever I take the phone out of my pocket to click a picture when I am in a rough terrain.

Getting the phone out of the case, however, is another big challenge though. It took me a solid minute or two to get the phone out of the case, and the whole process was a frustrating experience. Another issue with the case is that it makes using 3D Touch to bring up the app switcher a difficult experience. However, this issue is present with almost all other cases and is not just specific to the Poetic Revolution.

If you are looking for a case that provides the ultimate protection to your iPhone 6s, the Poetic Revolution should be right at the top of your list, especially once you factor in its $19.95 price point. While I cannot see myself using the case on a regular basis, it will definitely come in handy every once in a while. My only gripe with the case is how difficult it is to insert or remove the phone from it, which will most certainly turn out to be a deal breaker for quite a few people.
