After releasing iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 updates to iPhones and iPads a few days ago, Apple has now released the iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 updates to fix bugs related to Bluetooth and FaceTime. These updates can now be installed on all compatible smartphones and tablets from Apple that are already running iOS 13 and iPadOS 13.
Last week, Apple had released the first developer beta versions of iOS 13.4.5 and iPadOS 13.4.5 updates, and we had predicted that Apple could launch a minor bug fixing update to iPhones and iPads to fix FaceTime and other bugs. Now, the company has done just that with the release of iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1.
The update has been released directly to all users without releasing its developer beta or public beta versions for testing. This new update fixes a bug that was not allowing devices running iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 to make FaceTime calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 (or earlier) and OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 (or earlier). The new updates also fix the bug inside the Settings app where choosing Bluetooth from the quick settings panel on the Home Screen would fail.
For iPad users, the iPadOS 13.4.1 update addresses an issue on the second-generation iPad Pro 11-inch and the fourth-generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch where the flashlight may not turn on after tapping the button in Control Center or on the lock screen. While the company hasn’t mentioned yet, the new iOS and iPadOS updates could also fix the VPN related bug where data fails to encrypt.
Another bug inside iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4, which removed the ‘+’ sign from search results for web searches made through its universal search bar via Google. We still don’t know if Apple has been able to fix the bug with the latest iOS and iPadOS updates.
With iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 updates, Apple introduced various features, including cursor and trackpad support, iCloud Folder sharing, ‘Hey Siri’ support when the device is facing down, universal app purchases, and new Memoji stickers. It also introduced several CarPlay improvements with support for third-party navigation apps in the Dashboard view.
