Ferrari in Talks With Apple to Expand Relationship For In-Car Entertainment

At the Geneva Motor Show today, Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo said that the company is in talks with Apple to broaden their relationship for in-car entertainment systems. Though Di Montezemolo didn’t reveal much about the specifics of this relationship, he said that the company would make things much clear “in the next few months.”

Ferrari, which today unveiled the 1 million euro hybrid model “LaFerrari,” is in talks with Apple about broadening a partnership on in-car entertainment, Di Montezemolo said today at the Geneva motor show. The new four-seater Ferrari model includes mini i-Pads on the passenger seats. Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president overseeing online services, joined the Ferrari board last year.

The report notes that Ferrari will be preinstalling two iPad minis for each rear seat passenger and also integrating the in-car infotaiment system with Siri through its Eyes-Free feature. As the relationship between the two companies expands, this integration would get even deeper.

Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, joined Ferrari’s board of directors in November, possibly explaining why the car manufacturer’s focusing on Apple products right now.
