A lot of people use multiple Instagram accounts. If you’re a social media manager or if you run multiple pages for brands or clients, you might have faced the difficulty of sharing the same post separately on every page that you’re running. Recently, Instagram has taken some design decisions that make it easy to identify the current account, easily switch between multiple accounts and post the same content on multiple accounts.
Here’s how the new feature works.
How to Add A New Account To Instagram
First, let’s see how you can add a new account to the Instagram app.
Step 1: Tap on the Profile button and select the menu button from the top-right.
Step 2: Here, tap on Settings and scroll down to find the Add Account option.
Step 3: If you’ve already created the account, just log in with the details. If not, you can create a new account from here.
Step 4: After logging in to the new profile, you’ll see that the Profile button in the bottom has switched to show the profile picture of the current account. This is how you can visually differentiate which account you’re using.
Step 5: To switch between accounts, tap and hold on the Profile button to see a list of all logged in accounts.
How to Post To Multiple Instagram Accounts At Once
This is a new feature in the Instagram app. So you should first update the Instagram app. If you still don’t see it, wait for a couple of days or weeks. Instagram usually rolls out new features in batches.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app and tap on the Plus button in the center of the bottom toolbar.
Step 2: From the Library, select the photo you want to post and tap on Next.
Step 3: You’ll be taken to the edit view. Again, tap on the Next button.
Step 4: Now in the editing new, you’ll see a new option called Post to Other Accounts. Tap on the toggle next to the accounts you want to post the picture to. If you like, you can post it to every Instagram account you’re currently logged into (up to 5 accounts).
Step 5: The rest is the same. Write the caption, tag the users and tap on Share. Your post will be shared to multiple accounts at once.
Should You?
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should post photos to multiple accounts at the same time. Instagram was built on the ethos of original content. For most users and most situations, posting the same picture at the same time can actually hurt the exposure.
But once you’re mindful of it, you can use the feature when it’s actually necessary and handy. If you’re promoting a sale across multiple handles, or if you’re collaborating with multiple profiles.
