Personally, I’ve been enjoying Instagram Stories every since it came out. Both posting stuff and consuming the feed of the people and pages I follow on Instagram. Yes, it’s a Snapchat Stories rip off. I don’t care. See, I can actually use Instagram, so that’s a big plus.
One of the things I didn’t like, however, was that there was no way to mute or hide someone’s Instagram Stories. I follow some pages for their posts, but I had to bear (or swipe through) their Stories in the stream. Well, no more. You can now mute a story quite easily.
How to Mute Instagram Stories
Step 1: Open your Instagram app (make sure it’s updated to the version 9.4).
Step 2: From the Stories bar on the top, tap and hold on the circular profile photo for the story you want to unfollow.
Step 3: Once you hold for a second, options from the bottom of the screen will come up. Here, tap on the “Mute user’s story” option.
Where Do They Go
Once you mute someone’s story, they’ll be sent to the end of the Stories list. Their image will be grayed out.
How to Unmute Instagram Stories
If you want to unmute someone, go to the end of the list, find their profile, tap and hold on their circular profile picture and select “Unmute user’s story”.
