Hulu Plus has received a major update, which brings it in line with full support not only for iOS 8, but also the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, while also throwing in quite a few extras for good measure.
The official Hulu Plus app was updated on October 2, and brings the version up to 4.0. With it, Hulu has added quite a few new features, including the ability to remotely control the Hulu Plus stream from your mobile device as it plays on your TV via an Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Chromecast or Apple TV. More than that, though, the app itself has been redesigned, which Hulu hopes will make it easier to navigate, find content and watch your favorite shows. Here’s the official rundown of the changes:

Another big change is actually a big move on Hulu’s part, as the company has apparently decided to play nice with Apple’s 30 percent cut from in-app purchases, including subscriptions. This is something that Hulu pulled from their Hulu Plus app back in 2011, as the company complied with Apple’s rule to remove links that led to external areas to subscribe to an app or feature. This also meant that signing up for subscription-based accounts was also pulled. So, for anyone who wanted to get a new Hulu Plus account on their iOS-based device, they would have to first sign up on the computer to gain access to content via their mobile device. That is no longer the case, though.
