The Music app in iOS 10 has received a big, bold redesign. And some feature placement has been shuffled a bit. Including the Shuffle feature. Don’t worry it’s all there (it’s not iOS 8.4 all over again). Here’s how you can shuffle songs from your entire library, from an album or from the Now Playing view.
The redesigned Now Playing screen looks epic. But you’ll notice that the Shuffle and Repeat buttons that used to be at the bottom of the screen are no longer there.
How to Shuffle Songs in the Music App on iPhone or iPad from Now Playing View
Step 1: Launch the Music app.
Step 2: Start playing a song.
Step 3: The Now Playing mini player appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap on it to open the Now Playing screen.
Step 4: To access them, you’ll need to “Swipe up” on the album artwork. This will reveal more stuff like Lyrics and Up Next menu.
Step 5: In iOS 10, Up Next will contain the upcoming songs and below, right next to it, you’ll see the familiar Shuffle and Repeat buttons. Tap on the Shuffle button to shuffle the songs. In iOS 11 and iOS 12, the Shuffle and Repeat buttons are available just above the Up Next section.
How to Shuffle Songs in the Music App from Album or Playlist View
From the Library or Browse tab, go to any of the Album or Playlist.
When you open it to see the track list, above, you’ll see the “Shuffle All” button.
How to Shuffle Your Entire Library in the Music App
Go to the “Library” tab in the Music app. From the top, select “Songs“. This includes all the songs in your library. On the top, you’ll see “Shuffle All“. Tap on it to shuffle all the songs in your library and start playback.
How to Ask Siri To Shuffle Songs in the Music App
The est way to start playing all your music in shuffle mode? Just ask Siri “Shuffle all my songs” and she’ll do it.
How To Disable Shuffle
If you want to stop the Shuffle, the only way to do it is by going to the Now Playing menu. Tap that preview of the song above the bottom navigation bar to get to the Now Playing screen. Now swipe up and next to the Up Next button, tap on the Shuffle icon to disable the feature.
