BlackBerry has today confirmed that it has agreed to a settlement with Typo, the creator of the BlackBerry-style keyboard case for iPhone. As part of the deal, Typo has agreed to stop selling its keyboards for devices with screen under 7.9 inches in size.
“Typo Products LLC, Typo Innovations LLC, Show Media LLC, Hallier Investments LLC, and Laurence Hallier have agreed to permanently discontinue selling anywhere in the world keyboards for smartphones and mobile devices with a screen size of less than 7.9 inches,” BlackBerry announced in its press release.
The company, which is backed by Ryan Seacrest, can continue to offer keyboards for devices with screens above 7.9 inches in size (larger tablets).
BlackBerry adds that the other terms of the settlement, such as any financial agreement, “are confidential.”
BlackBerry has sued Typo on multiple occasions for its keyboard cases, which add physical keys to the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 6. The company was ordered to pay BlackBerry $860,000 in damages back in February, but it later released the Typo 2 case and was sued again.
