The new Apple TV runs tvOS, which is a modified version of iOS, so you can do things like kill or force close an app just like the iPhone or iPad.
So if you’re having problems with an app on your new Apple TV, then you can kill it and launch it again to see if it resolves the issue.
Here’s how you kill or force close an app on the fourth generation Apple TV. Note: This doesn’t work on Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3.
How to kill or force close an app on the new Apple TV
- Press the Home button (the button next to the Menu button) on Siri Remote or Apple TV remote.
- Double press the Home button just the way you would press the Home button on your iPhone or iPad to enter the multitasking mode.
- You can swipe on the Touch surface to the left or right to go to the app you want to kill.
- Swipe up on the app card to kill or force close the app.
You can now press the Home button to go back to the Home screen, and launch the app again.
