Right now, the only way to get an Apple Watch is to pre-order one online, through the Apple Online Store. Apple has already confirmed that the wearable won’t be available in its retail stores on Friday, but that won’t be the case for some boutique shops.
For anyone that has waited to pre-order the smartwatch online due to the extended shipping times, a new report from The New York Times outlines how some individuals out there, depending on their location or willingness to travel, might have a shot at picking up the new wearable in a store. According to the report, the Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo will have stock available beginning on Friday, April 24. So will Maxfield in Los Angeles, California; Corso Como in Milan, Italy; The Corner in Berlin, Germany; and Collette in Paris.
Apple’s statement that there would be no Apple Watch stock in physical retail stores seems to be only positioned to their own stores, as some stock has obviously been reserved for these other locations. The report also indicates that Dover Street, in Tokyo, will have about 350 Apple Watches available, while the location in London will have around 570 units.
That’s not a lot of units, and now that news has broken of these locations having stock, it would stand to reason that lines will start forming soon enough.
Did you pre-order an Apple Watch, and is it preparing for shipment now?
