Is Netflix eating up most of your time and killing your productivity? Well, the company is now testing out a picture-in-picture/pop-out mode that will let you binge Netflix while working on other apps. The pop-out player is currently being tested for desktop. Interestingly the picture above shows the pop-out player running on Mac via Google Chrome.
In order to activate the pop-up player all you need to do is click the button on the bottom toolbar. This needs to be done while you are watching the video. After clicking on the button, the floating player will appear.
What’s more, the player is resizable and you can drag and drop it anywhere across the screen. That being said, the subtitle feature is not supported on pop-out mode as of now. It is worth noting that the pop-out player seems to be different from the picture-in-picture feature offered by Safari and Chrome browsers.
The pop-out player is designed in such a way that it remains at the top, no matter what you are doing. You can collapse the player by clicking on the X or by closing the Netflix tab on the browser.
Netflix is yet to announce the feature officially. The rollout seems to be slow, I couldn’t find the feature on my Safari browser. However, it is only a matter of time before the feature is rolled out to all Netflix users across multiple platforms and browsers. Now we only wish that Netflix offers an app for Mac users just like it did for Windows. Do you feel the need for the Netflix app on Mac? Let us know in the comments below.
