Microsoft is no stranger to software, and the company has launched a new app that should help people get even more organized.

The new app is called Planner, and it’s a project management app that’s designed to help not only business leaders, but team leaders of all sizes, including those in the educational market. Planner is available, automatically, for “eligible” Office 365 subscribers, which means anyone that’s subscribed to the service.

Microsoft says the new app will roll out over the “next several weeks,” and subscribers don’t need to do anything to add it. It’ll just become available at some point in the future, and for some that arrival date will be today.

Planner will let subscribers organize on the go, featuring ways to assign, organize, and collaborate on tasks, share files and update statuses, and set due dates. Plus much more. There are even email notifications that allow for real-time updates when changes are made.

“The addition of Planner to the Office 365 lineup introduces a new and improved way for businesses, schools and organizations to structure teamwork easily and get more done. With Planner, teams can create new plans; organize, assign and collaborate on tasks; set due dates; update statuses and share files, while visual dashboards and email notifications keep everyone informed on progress.”

Planner sounds like a solid addition to Microsoft’s suite of office-focused services and apps. You can check out an overview in the YouTube video below.
