Apple today announced that popular rock band AC/DC’s entire music catalog is now available for purchase from the iTunes Store, either in the form of single tracks or entire albums.
AC/DC’s lead singer Brian Johnson has been a noted critic of the digital music industry, talking to Reuters after the release of AC/DC’s 2008 album Black Ice, Johnson said:
“Maybe I’m just being old-fashioned, but this iTunes, God bless ’em, it’s going to kill music if they’re not careful.”
The growth of online music stores in the past few years, seems to have changed Johnson’s heart. He had earlier refused to distribute any of the band’s albums, including the one released in 2008, digitally.
Apple notes that this marks the first time AC/DC’s music is available digitally, and iTunes seems to be the only online store to have their music for sale. The songs have been “mastered for iTunes,” which, Apple says, ensures “music is delivered to listeners with increased audio fidelity.” Apple, in similar fashion, brought all of The Beatles’ music to the iTunes Store in 2010.
Individual songs by AC/DC can be bought for $1.29, album prices range from $5.99 to $39.99 and a complete collection of all of AC/DC’s albums is available for $99.99.
You can start downloading AC/DC’s music by heading to the iTunes Store.
