During Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year, the company decided to keep most of the changes coming to Apple TV piped up, but they did confirm that Amazon Prime Video would finally be arriving on the set-top box at some point in the future.
At the time, there wasn’t a release date mentioned, other than “later this year.” However, expectations have been going strong that Apple, and Amazon, would have it ready to go by the time the fifth-generation Apple TV landed on the scene, which is believed to take place sometime in September. That may not end up being the case, though, as reported by Recode.
According to the publication, Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV may not be ready to go by September. The information is actually tucked away in just a single line in a post regarding the TV aspirations of Apple in general, so there isn’t a lot of information to actually go on here. According to the report, unnamed sources are the reason why expectations might be tempered regarding an Amazon Prime Video launch on Apple TV this September.
There is no denying that the Amazon Prime Video app has been one that has been requested quite a bit from Apple TV owners, but, up until this year, there hasn’t been any real indication that it would ever arrive on Apple’s set-top box. With that finally changing sometime this year, anticipation for the app is certainly climbing.
With today’s report, however, it looks like we may have to keep waiting a bit longer before Apple TV owners get to watch their Amazon video libraries on Apple TV.
Are you looking forward to the app’s arrival?
