Apple is likely to reintroduce the rainbow logo on some of its devices. The once famous logo was discontinued in the late ’90s. Perhaps Apple wants to invoke nostalgia and position the products accordingly.
As of now, the tipster is not sure which Apple products will get the rainbow logo treatment. Apple used the multi-colored logo on the original Macintosh in 1984. The logo was also used on other devices even after 1984. The rainbow logo might also make it to special edition iPhone and iPad.
Like any other piece of rumor, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. However, the source of the rumor claims that the tipster is credible and thus decided to reveal the same. It is also worth noting that information about the multi-colored logo is not corroborated by other sources or tipsters.
There is the resonance with the rainbow logo that’s been part of our identity for many years. The rainbow is also a positive and joyful expression of some of our inclusion values and I think that one of the primary reasons the idea resonated so immediately and so profoundly with us was the form — the connection from an aesthetic design point of view. A semi-circle relates so beautifully and naturally to the form of the ring.- Jony Ive.
Apple first used the multi-colored logo on the Apple 11 in 1977 and it was used until 1998. Later the logo was ditched in favor of a new Apple logo that looked pretty much similar to what we see today. Interestingly Apple Park was decorated with the color of the rainbow. The idea behind this was to pay tribute to Steve Jobs. The rainbow-colored treatment was given to stairs, walkways and an arch-shaped stage for Lady Gaga performance.
