iPad Pro 2020

Earlier this week Apple pulled the wraps from the new iPad Pro. According to a Reddit thread the company is automatically upgrading purchase order to the 2020 iPad Pro.

A Redditor who goes by the username Pooch76 has received an email from Apple regarding his iPad Pro purchase. In the email, Apple says that they will be upgrading the order from the 2018 iPad Pro 256GB to the 2020 iPad Pro. The best part is that Apple will not charge anything extra which means the user got a new 2020 iPad Pro at the price of the old model. The 2020 iPad Pro WiFi+ Calling 256GB variant is priced at $1049 while the 2018 iPad Pro model is priced almost identical at $1039.

The email sent to the user reads as follows,

As you may know, Apple recently announced the new iPad Pro. Since your order has yet to ship, we automatically upgraded you to the new 11-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular 256GB – Space Gray at a new, lower price.

The user claims on Reddit that he had bought an 11-inch iPad Pro with 256GB as a gift for his wife. The order was placed on Sunday night and the email from Apple arrived on the next day. We are not sure if Apple will upgrade the order for everyone. It is good to see consumer-centric efforts from Apple. They recently announced an extended return period in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Interestingly if you have bought previous-gen iPad Pro in the last two weeks you can still return it once the stores open and buy the new one.

The 2020 iPad Pro comes with Apple’s A12Z Bionic chip which features an eight-core GPU, eight-core CPU, and a Neural Engine. Apple has also improved thermal management for further performance improvement. Despite these performance improvements, Apple claims the iPad Pro can last up to 10 hours on a single charge. It also offers Wi-Fi 6 and gigabit LTE support for faster downloads.

This is also the first time Apple has added an ultra-wide-angle camera to the iPad Pro alongside LiDAR Scanner for depth-sensing capability.
