While WhatsApp allows users to call their friends via the app, it is also possible to record and send voice messages within a conversation. This usually comes in handy when you’re in a place where you can’t type such as while driving.
One thing that I dislike about the voice record feature is that you could accidentally tap on the record button and it will be sent right away without any confirmation. Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t allow users to remove the record button, but there is a workaround.
If you barely use the voice record feature, you can disable the permission for microphone access so that the record feature will no longer work. Here’s how to disable voice message recording in WhatsApp for iPhone.
How to Disable Voice Message Recording in WhatsApp
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Privacy.
Step 3: Tap on Microphone.
Step 4: Here you’ll find a list of all the apps that have requested access to the microphone. Find WhatsApp in the list and toggle it off.
From now on, whenever you tap on the record button within a conversation in WhatsApp, it will no longer work. Instead, a popup appears that will request you to re-enable microphone access for WhatsApp.
Keep in mind that once you disable microphone access for WhatsApp, you won’t be able to use other features that require it such as voice calling. You can however re-enable it whenever you want.
