In an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt yesterday, Elon Musk, CEO and CTO of Space X and lead product architect at Tesla, said that Apple is jokingly referred to as the ‘Tesla Graveyard’ because the company usually hires people that have been fired from Tesla. He also made fun of the Apple Watch in the interview.
Now, not to be misunderstood, Elon Musk has revealed in a couple of tweets that he does not hate Apple and that it is a great company where a lot of talented people work.
Yo, I don't hate Apple. It's a great company with a lot of talented people. I love their products and I'm glad they're doing an EV.

As for the dig at the Apple Watch he took in the interview, Musk clarifies that while Jony Ive and his team have managed to create a product with a beautiful design, the functionality of the device is still not good enough. He expects things to improve by the time the third generation Apple Watch is released though.
Regarding the watch, Jony & his team created a beautiful design, but the functionality isn't compelling yet. By version 3, it will be.

Musk has in the past said that it would be “great” if Apple launched an electric vehicle and was looking forward to the competition. Apple has also been reportedly poaching employees from Tesla by giving them signing bonuses and higher pay package, and has met with limited success on this front.
