In this article, we show you how to fix some of the most common Cydia problems users are facing with Electra Jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1 – iOS 11.2.
How to Fix Common Cydia Problems with Electra iOS 11.3.1 Jailbreak
Fix Cydia Not Appearing
If your iPhone or iPad suddenly displayed a black screen with a spinner on it after Electra’s UI reached Stage 2/3, the jailbreak has succeeded. However, if Cydia is not appearing, then you will need to run uicache or hard reset your iPhone or iPad.
You can follow the steps below to run uicache.
Step 1: Get iPhone or iPad’s Wi-Fi Address
Launch the Settings app and navigate to Wi-Fi.
Tap on the blue information icon next to the Wi-Fi network that you’re connected to.
Note down the IP address.
Step 2: SSH into iPhone and iPad
On your Mac, launch the Terminal application from /Applications/Utilities or via Spotlight.
At the prompt, enter the following command and hit Enter:
Terminal may prompt you to confirm if you want to continue connecting, type yes and hit the Enter key to continue.
Type in alpine, which is the root password, and hit Enter.
You should now be connected to your iPhone as the root user, the Terminal’s prompt will also change from your computer name to root.
Step 3: Run uicache command
Type in uicache and hit Enter.
You should see Cydia on your iPhone or iPad’s Home screen shortly.
Fix Cydia Keeps Crashing
Electra Jailbreak for 11.3.1 – iOS 11.2 is a semi-tethered jailbreak. A semi-untethered jailbreak is similar to an untethered jailbreak, it gives the ability to reboot your iOS device on its own. On each boot, the iOS device startup sequence is unmodified and it boots into its original, non-jailbroken state. However, instead of needing to use a tool from a computer to re-jailbreak the iOS device again, like a tethered or semi-tethered cases, the user can re-jailbreak their device with the help of an app running on the iOS device such as the Electra app in case of Electra jailbreak.
So if Cydia keeps crashing after successfully jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad with Electra Jailbreak for iOS 11.3.1 – iOS 11.2 then it is most likely because your device is not in a jailbroken state yet.
To find out, launch the Electra app again. If you see Enable Jailbreak button instead of Share Electra then it means your device is not in a jailbroken state. You will need to tap the Enable Jailbreak to put your device in a jailbroken state. You may need to try a few times to put your device in jailbroken state as Electra Jailbreak is not very reliable yet. So you need to be patient and keep trying.
Once you are able to put your device in a jailbroken state, Cydia should stop crashing, and you should be able to launch it and install iOS 11.3.1 compatible jailbreak tweaks and apps.
Please note that you will need to launch the Electra app, and tap on Enable Jailbreak every time you reboot the device.
