Huawei is taking the marketing of its upcoming flagship, the P20, to the next level. The company has started putting up ad vans in front of Apple and Samsung Stores in the UK, asking users to “Wait” and “Be Patient”. The alphabets AI are highlighted to indicate the technology it will be running on.
The company has also sprayed graffiti in front of some stores claiming that “The Renaissance is coming” on the 27th of March. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer to know what Huawei has in store. The P20, from what we know, is expected to be packing a groundbreaking camera that could rival most competitive offerings, including flagships from Apple and Samsung.
It’s too soon to tell if the over-the-top marketing is going to work for the Chinese company, but it has gotten people talking on social media, and that’s exactly what Huawei wants ahead of the big unveiling on Tuesday. The company is also going to launch the P20 Pro, which is expected to be an upgraded storage or RAM variant of the standard P20.
The company, however, will not be able to sell its smartphones in the U.S. with Best Buy announcing that it won’t sell Huawei phones in the region. Previously, carriers like AT&T and Verizon had backed out of a deal with Huawei to sell its upcoming phones on American soil. This is believed to be the repercussion of a letter sent by the Senate and the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, citing intelligence sources who believe that Huawei is closely associated with the Communist Party in China as well as its security and intelligence agencies.
