Rumors regarding the larger “iPad Pro” have died down a bit, ever since Apple officially unveiled the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. However, Apple rumors rarely stay dead.
According to a new blog post published by Japanese Macotakara [translated], the upcoming issue of “Mac Fan,” will debut the leaked blueprint for an “iPad Air Plus.” This tablet is apparently the same larger-sized device that’s been rumored about for ages now, but actually decreases the size of the LCD display a bit. This new report suggests the iPad Air Plus will feature a 12.2-inch display, rather than a 12.9-inch display, as previous rumors had claimed.
What’s more, the report goes on to add that this new iPad will boast an A9 processor under the hood. However, the translation of the article seems to suggest that it will actually be running an A8X processor, which would line up with previous speculation. According to the magazine, the new tablet will launch sometime between April and June of 2015, something that also lines up with previous rumors. The blueprint also seems to indicate that there will be four speakers in the larger, 12.2-inch tablet, one at each edge of the casing. It will have the same design aesthetic as the iPad 2, but one would imagine that this indicates the iPad Air Pro will look more like an iPad Air 2, rather than the older model.
The blog post also indicates that an iPad mini 4 is coming at some point in the early part of 2015 as well, and that Apple will discontinue the iPad mini 3 around the same time.
Would you consider buying a 12-inch iPad?
