Apple did away with its iAd network over the summer, but that doesn’t mean advertisements are going away completely from the news aggregator.

According to a report from Recode, Apple has inked a deal with NBCUniversal to bring advertisements to Apple News. What that means moving forward, is that while publishers can still promote their own ads within Apple News, and keep their revenue from doing such, NBC will be selling any remaining ad inventory, and not Apple:

“Publishers who put content on the app can still sell their own ads and will keep 100 percent of the revenue from any ads they sell. The new deal means that NBCUniversal, instead of Apple, will sell any remaining ad inventory.

As before, publishers will keep 70 percent of those sales. In a note to her staff, NBCUniversal sales boss Linda Yaccarino said her organization would create a dedicated sales group for the app.”

The report also adds that while Apple will not give a comment on detailed usage numbers, the company did confirm that Apple News now has 70 million unique users.
