Apple tries to make iOS secure with every new release. With iOS 12, the company improved the USB Restricted mode to ensure third-party grey boxes were not able to brute force into a locked iPhone or iPad.
However, once in a while, we will see a hack make its way to the internet that will allow one to bypass the iOS passcode and access certain functions of the device.
Two new videos have been posted on YouTube where a person through a series of steps using Assistive Touch and Shortcuts app is able to bypass a locked iPhone and access the phonebook and send messages to them.
The video is not in English so the steps shown are not exactly clear. However, it is understandable that the bypass relies on Assistive Touch and Siri Shortcuts app to work properly. While the videos above do show one how to bypass the iOS 12 passcode protection, they do not allow one full fledged access to the OS and data stored on the device.
The bypass process is not relatively simple, though if you are determined to gain access to a locked iPhone or iPad the steps shown in the video are going to be your best bet.
If you end up trying the steps shown in the videos above, do drop a comment and let us know if you were successful in bypassing the iOS 12 passcode protection or not.
