Microsoft today announced that it has added the ability to record Skype calls across desktop and mobile devices. The update comes just a day after Microsoft announced that it is redesigning Skype again to focus on its core set of features and remove all the unnecessary features from it.

Call recording in Skype is completely cloud-based, with all the parties involved being informed about it as well to ensure there is no breach of privacy. Once you start recording a voice or video call, a banner will appear on top of the call screen to ensure that all participants in a call know at all times that the call is being recorded. For video calls, apart from capturing the video of all the people involved, Skype will also record and save any screen that is shared.

All recorded calls in Skype are saved for 30 days and can be shared with anyone. To save the recorded call for longer than 30 days, one must download it and save it offline.

To record a Skype call on an iPhone or iPad, simply tap the Start Recording button from the in-call screen. Once the call ends or you stop the recording, you can find it in the chat box from where you can save it for offline use or share it with your contacts.

Call recording in Skype is already available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac version of the app. The Windows 10 Skype app will get the feature in a future update in the coming weeks.
