The Do Not Disturb feature was a welcome addition in iOS 6, and so was the improvement to the feature in iOS 7.
iOS 8 includes another useful enhancement to the Do Not Disturb feature.
You can finally mute a conversation in the Messages app in iOS 8.
How to mute a group chat in Messages app in iOS 8
Follow these steps:
- Open the Messages app, and open the group which you want to mute.
- Then tap on Details
- Tap on the On/Off toggle next to Do Not Disturb to mute the conversation.
That’s it. You will no longer get Notifications for messages in that conversation. This can be quite useful in case of group conversations where you can get flooded with messages if there are many people in the group.
This way you can read through the messages whenever you have time.
Leave Group chat
Alternatively, you can leave the conversation by tapping on Leaving this Conversation. It will prompt you to confirm, tap on Leaving this Conversation to leave the group chat.
