iOS 9.3 included a number of new features such as the very useful Night Shift mode, ability to secure notes with Touch ID and password etc, but it has been plagued with problems such as the Activation Lock bug, Safari problems etc.
Update: Apple has released iOS 9.3.1 to fix an annoying issue which caused apps to become unresponsive after tapping on links in Safari and other apps. So please install the latest iOS 9.3.1 software update. Check our post to download iOS 9.3.1.
The Activation Lock bug was so severe that Apple had to temporarily pull iOS 9.3 update for older iOS devices. On Monday, Apple released a new version of iOS 9.3 with build number 13E237 for older iOS devices.
The following devices were affected:
- iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini 2
- iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s
- iPod touch 5G
If you’ve one of the affected devices, the update is available as a standard over-the-air (OTA) release, or through iTunes if you connect your device directly. You can also download it using the direct download links:

iOS 9.3 is one of the biggest update to iOS 9, and includes several new features such as Night Shift mode. Night Shift makes use of the iOS device’s clock and geolocation to automatically shift the colors in the display to warmer end of the spectrum to reduce exposure to bright blue light in the event, to make it easier on your eyes. You can also enable or disable Night Shift via the Control Center.
iOS 9.3 also includes the ability to password and Touch ID protect Notes, revamped News app, new 3D Touch Quick Actions for stock apps like Weather, Settings, Compass, Health, App Store, and iTunes Store, ability to duplicate the Live Photos as a still image, improvements to the Health app, Apple Music support in CarPlay and new Classroom app, which includes the ability to manage multiple Apple ID logins for iOS devices, allowing multiple students to utilize the same device with individual profiles. iOS 9.3 also brings Wi-Fi Calling support to Verizon Wireless subscribers.
