Earlier in May, a video showcasing what iOS 10 could look like surfaced in a concept video, showing some interesting ideas.
Now, almost a month later we have another concept that puts together a few rumors, and “what if” situations for iOS 10, this time from iHelpBR. The main gist for this concept is a Dark Mode, which is being hinted at within Apple’s latest update for the official WWDC app, which was released not too long ago.
The concept sees Dark Mode applied to just about everything, from Apple’s stock apps, the system itself, menus, and shows what apps like Messages, Mail, News, Contacts, and more look like with a Dark Mode applied. What’s more, the Dark Mode could extend to third-party apps, too, if Apple created a Dark Mode API.
There’s also the idea that Dark Mode could be initiated automatically once the sun sets, something that’s actually already present in the stock Apple Maps app.
Another interesting addition for the iPhone lineup could be the inclusion of split-screen multitasking and picture-in-picture support. These two features are present in iOS, but only for the iPad lineup. There’s no telling if Apple would bring something like this to the smaller-screened iPhone family, but it’s not completely unheard of on some of the competition’s smartphones, so it’s possible that some iPhone owners out there would like to see the feature added.
A Dark Mode has been asked for from fans for quite some time, and was only intensified when Apple added a dark theme to OS X back in 2014 with the release of OS X Yosemite. It will be interesting to see if Apple rolls out the theme for iOS devices when they announce the next iteration of iOS at this year’s WWDC, which is set to take place between June 13 and June 17.
