Most of us might admit that there’s no fun in sending messages without Emojis. It has become an integral part of our conversations and expresses emotions better than words. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
An exciting new change introduced in iOS 10 is that the predictive text bar in the stock iOS keyboard now suggests Emojis as well, apart from words. If you type a word that has a corresponding Emoji then it will appear in the predictive bar. An example is replacing the word “happy” with a smiling Emoji.
Unfortunately, some users who’ve upgraded to iOS 10 are facing issues with predictive Emoji. The predictive text bar fails to display the corresponding Emoji of a word. If you’re in the same boat, we have some solutions to fix this issue.
Method 1: Disable and Enable Predictive Feature
Step 1: On your device, launch the Settings app.
Step 2: Go to General -> Keyboard.
Step 3: At the bottom of the pane, you’ll find a toggle labelled Predictive. Turn it off and then turn on again.
Step 4: Next, perform a hard reset by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button together for about 10 seconds until your device restarts and the Apple logo appears.
Method 2: Reset Keyboard Dictionary
Step 1: Launch the Settings app and navigate to General -> Reset.
Step 2: Tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary and confirm that you want to take this action.
Step 3: Perform a hard reset by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button together for about 10 seconds until your device restarts and the Apple logo appears.
Method 3: Remove Emoji and English Keyboards and Add Again
Step 1: Launch the Settings app and go to General -> Keyboard.
Step 2: Tap on Keyboards.
Step 3: Swipe the Emoji cell to the left and choose Delete. Do the same for the English keyboard.
Step 4: Perform a hard reset by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button together for about 10 seconds until your device restarts and the Apple logo appears.
Step 5: Go back to the keyboards section in Settings and add the Emoji and English keyboards again.
Method 4:
None of the above methods worked for some of our readers. However, this method suggested by reader Anthony seems to have worked for some readers (Thanks Anthony for sharing your solution!):
Try typing a bunch of random emojis into a text. Hit return to begin a new line, and type a word that you would expect predictive emojis for.
