Apple has just released iOS 9.3.4, which could be the last update to the iOS 9 software cycle. The release, which has been labelled as an “important security update”, comes just a few weeks after Pangu released their new jailbreak tool for iOS 9.3.3.
Apparently, it seems that iOS 9.3.4 patches the vulnerabilities used by Pangu team in iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak. That means the jailbreak is incompatible with iOS 9.3.4, which could be the main reason why Apple unexpectedly released this update.
Jailbreakers should refrain from updating to iOS 9.3.4, if they wish to keep their jailbreak or have the ability to do so. If you’re on an older firmware, we would highly recommend you to manually update or restore your device to iOS 9.3.3, if you wish to jailbreak, before Apple closes the signing window.
As of this writing, Apple is still signing iOS 9.3.3, so you have the chance to update your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to that firmware version and get the ability to jailbreak. If you’ve updated to iOS 9.3.4, you can downgrade to iOS 9.3.3 using iTunes. Once the signing window closes, you will not be able to do so.
The security contents of this update should be out soon in Apple’s support document, which will give us a clear look of what vulnerabilities used in the iOS 9.3.3 Pangu jailbreak were patched.
