The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus saw some intermittent issues for some owners, where audio would crackle during a call. Apple aimed to fix the issue soon.
Today, Apple has officially released the next minor update to iOS 11, iOS 11.0.2, which will specifically aim to fix the crackling audio issues for iPhone 8 owners, as well as other behind-the-scenes tweaks and adjustments, along with performance enhancements. As usual, the standard bug fixes are in place as well, which should help with overall use cases for devices running iOs 11.0.2.
Other named issues include photos not showing up, and another bug where some attachments might not appear in encrypted emails. Both of these issues should be addressed and patched in this newest update, which is available beginning today.
To update, head into Settings –> General — Software Update and then follow the on-screen instructions. From there, the software will download and install. The build number for his release is 15A421.
This is another minor update for the iOS devices, following the minor update earlier this month to iOS 11.0.1, which was also released to fix small bug issues that had been discovered since the public release of iOS 11.
Apple is also working on the next major update to the platform, iOS 11.1, which is currently seeing beta seeds for developers and public beta testers. That should be released following several weeks of beta seeds, so it may be quite some time before the public launch of that particular update.
