The @pwn20wnd team has just dropped the Unc0ver 3.5.0 update which adds support for jailbreaking iOS 12.4 — the very latest public release of iOS from Apple.
This is the first time in years that it has been possible to jailbreak the latest publicly available iOS release. If you have ever jailbroken your iPhone or iPad in the past, this news is going to make you very excited. While Unc0ver remains a semi-tethered jailbreak tool, it makes it incredibly easy to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad running iOS 12.4. You don’t even need access to a computer for the entire process.
Compatible Devices
Unc0ver 3.5.0 (or newer) are compatible with the following iPhones and iPads running iOS 12 – iOS 12.2 or iOS 12.4:
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad Air
- 6th gen iPad
Do note that while it is possible to jailbreak iOS 12.4 using Unc0ver, it does not support jailbreaking iOS 12.3. So, if your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 12.3, you will first have to update it to iOS 12.4 before you can jailbreak it.
Apple is currently signing iOS 12.4 so even if you have installed the iOS 13 beta on your iPhone/iPad, you can downgrade back to iOS 12.4 and then jailbreak it.
Pre-Requisites
- Delete any iOS 12 OTA update file from Settings -> Storage and reboot your device before attempting to jailbreak it.
- Unc0ver jailbreak has complete support for Cydia and Substrate.
- Make sure to create a backup of all important data on your device before proceeding with the jailbreaking steps.
