Some users fooled by fake iOS 7 ads claiming it made their iPhone waterproof

iOS 7, Apple’s latest mobile operating system for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch sports an all-new user interface and comes with 200 new features and improvement such as the all-new Control Center, smarter multitasking, AirDrop, iTunes Radio and some really cool hidden features, but it does not (and cannot) include waterproofing feature.

It looks like these 9 fake ads on 4chan, an image based bulletin board telling users “Update to iOS 7 and become waterproof” fooled some users.water_ad_1 water_ad_2 water_ad_3 water_ad_4 water_ad_5 water_ad_6 water_ad_7 water_ad_8 water_ad_9

It looks like some users have even fallen for the hoax. The Telegraph and The Daily Dot reports:

“Whoever said ios7 was waterproof **** you,” wrote one user on Twitter.

“whoever said ios 7 was waterproof go die as i almost broke my phone,” wrote another user on Twitter.

Here’s a Facebook post where people are discussing the feature:

Hilarious! I guess now I will have to add the waterproofing feature to our iOS 8 wish list.
