Following Apple’s footsteps, Google Maps has added a nifty new feature that allows you to mark the location of your parking spot so that you don’t forget it. It works a little differently than Apple Maps and takes a more manual approach.

With the new Google Maps update, you can now mark your parking spot on the map as well as view more details such as photos of the location, street address, notes, and much more.

Here’s how you can create a parking spot pin in Google Maps on iPhone or iPad.

Add Car Parking Location to Google Maps

Step 1: Go to the App Store and make sure that Google Maps is up-to-date.

Step 2: Open the Google Maps app.

Step 3: Tap on the blue dot showing your current location.

Step 4: From the menu that appears, tap on ‘Set as parking location’.

Step 5: A parking spot marker is added to the map. You can tap on it to view more details such as photos of the place or its address.

This is a nice feature for the forgetful users who sometimes have a hard time remembering where their car is parked.

Google Maps also has an autosave parking feature that automatically saves your parking location as soon as it detects that you left the car. If you connect your iPhone to your car via bluetooth or USB, then as soon as you leave the car and your device disconnects, Google Maps will automatically mark your current location as the parking spot. This feature seems to have been inspired by the parking spot indicator introduced in Apple Maps in iOS 10.
