iOS 8 makes it a lot easier to add a website to Favorites so you can quickly access it in Safari, and you can finally request a desktop version of the website in Safari.
How to quickly add a website to Favorites:
Follow these simple steps:
- Open Safari from the Home screen.
- Visit the website you want to add to Favorites.
- Tap on the URL.
- Swipe down on the page, tap on Add to Favorites to add the website to Favorites.
- Then tap on Save in the top right corner.
That’s it. The website should now show up on Safari’s Home screen, so you can quickly launch it.
How to request desktop site:
As you may have noticed in the screenshot above, when you tap on the URL and swipe down, you get the option to also Request Desktop Site.
Tap on Request Desktop Site to load the desktop version of the website.
Note: You will be able to access the desktop site only during that tab session. If you close that tab, and open a new one, it will again load the mobile version of the site.
As always, let me know how it goes in the comments.
