iOS 11.1 Emoji

iOS users will be greeted to more emoji with the iOS 11.1 update, Apple has shared. These new emoji are Apple’s take on the additions made with the Unicode 10 standard. Apple introduced a bunch of new emoji as part of the “World Emoji Day” in July this year. Apple will bring those in addition to the 30 new emoji shown off today as part of the iOS 11.1 update.

There’s no precise timeline for the release of the iOS 11.1 update, but Apple is expected to send out the iOS 11.1 beta containing the new emoji starting next week.

Some notable additions include a gender neutral emoji in multiple skin tones as well as some new animals and insects like giraffe, cricket/grasshopper, a zebra, and much more. There are some updates being made to the face emoji as well, with a new angry foul mouthed emoji making its way to the fore.

ASL users will be happy to know about the inclusion of a new “I Love You” emoji in sign language (not to be confused with the metal horns emoji already available on iOS). Apple has added several new emoji over the past year or so, keeping in line with the additions to Unicode 10.
