iOS 10 has seen a 3D Touch overhaul and frankly, I’m a fan. There’s just so much more you can do with 3D Touch now. While a lot of it are little things, they’re little things that end up shaving off seconds from your total interaction. Case in point, the new 3D Touch gesture for controlling app downloads.
Cancel App Downloads Using 3D Touch
You already know it’s pretty easy to pause and resume an app download. All you have to do is tap the icon and see the status change.
But cancelling a download has always been a convoluted mess. You’d need to press and hold the icon, wait for them to jiggle about, then tap the “x” icon and then confirm.
iOS 10 makes it much easier. If you’re using an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or the newer iPhones that support 3D Touch, all you need to do is 3D Touch on the app that’s being downloaded (press on the screen with a bit more pressure till you feel a vibration feedback) to reveal the “Cancel Download” option.
Tap it and you’ll see that in second, the app icon will disappear from the Home screen and the download will stop. Now, this 3D Touch Quick Actions menu also provides options to pause and resume the download and the share the current app (handy for quickly copying the App Store link to an app).
Lots More 3D Touch
As I said, 3D Touch is everywhere. Here are some of our 3D Touch related guides that will help you master all the new three-dimensional stuff.
