Following the release of an Unc0ver beta with Sock Puppet exploit, the Electra team has also updated Chimera jailbreaking tool with the exploit. This means the tool can be used for jailbreaking iPhones and iPads running iOS 12 – iOS 12.2.
Up until now, Chimera has supported jailbreaking all iPhones and iPads — including the iPhone XS and iPhone XR — running iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2. Thanks to the new Sock Puppet exploit though, it can now jailbreak iPhones/iPads running iOS 12.1.3 – 12.2 as well.

However, just like Unc0ver, the catch here is that the exploit only works for A9-A11 devices. This includes devices like the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone X. Newer devices like the iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and 2018 iPad Pro lineup are not supported by Chimera. Given the exploit does not work on A12 Bionic powered devices, it is unlikely that we will see either Unc0ver or Chimera being updated with jailbreaking support for them.
There are likely going to be a few stability issues on devices running iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 after the jailbreak. The Electra team is rolling out regular updates to fix them but if you value stability more than a jailbreak, you should wait for a few more days. This issue is also present with Unc0ver jailbreak and the problem is due to the Sock Puppet exploit being used.
