Apple Releases iOS 12.1.3 With Bug Fixes, Download Now [IPSW Links]

Apple, as usual, has been beta testing its latest software upgrade for iOS for weeks now, but the company is finally releasing the software to the public.

On Tuesday, Apple officially released iOS 12.1.3 to the public. This is a minor update in scale, as the version number might suggest, not adding any major forward facing features for the general user. However, that does not mean it isn’t an important update, as this new software is meant to address a variety of bugs discovered since the public release of iOS 12.1.2 late last year.

To update, supported device owners can open the Settings app –> General –> Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade. As is par for the course, this software update is free to download and install.

The fixes aren’t just for iOS, either. Apple is including fixes for the HomePod as well, aiming to patch an issue that would see Siri stop listening, as well as issues that could cause the smart speaker to randomly restart. There are fixes to Apple’s CarPlay as well, patching an issue that could see some systems disconnect from an iPhone XS, XS Max, or iPhone XR without warning.

Here’s Apple’s changelog for the new software:

    • Fixes an issue in Messages that could impact scrolling through photos in the Details view
    • Addresses an issue where photos could have striped artifacts after being sent from the Share Sheet
    • Fixes an issue that may cause audio distortion when using external audio input devices on iPad Pro (2018)
    • Resolves an issue that could cause certain CarPlay systems to disconnect from iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max

This release also includes bug fixes for HomePod. This update:

  • Fixes an issue that could cause HomePod to restart
  • Addresses an issue that could cause Siri to stop listening

The new software is available to download and install now.
