Apple releases iOS 7.0.6 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch [Updated]

Apple has just released iOS 7.0.6 (Build number: 11B651). The update is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

According to the release note the update includes a fix for SSL connection verification.

The update seems to be available Over-the-air, and is 35.5MB in size on an iPhone 5s. Launch the Settings app, and navigate to General > Software Update to download and install the update.

Jailbreakers are advised to avoid upgrading to iOS 7.0.6, and wait for for the evad3rs dev team to confirm if it is safe to update to the latest iOS software update.

According to the support document, iOS 7.0.6 fixes the following security issue:

Data Security

Available for: iPhone 4 and later, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 and later

Impact: An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS

Description: Secure Transport failed to validate the authenticity of the connection. This issue was addressed by restoring missing validation steps.

Update 3:

MuscleNerd of the evad3rs’ team has advice jailbreakers to avoid upgrading to iOS 7.0.6. However, he has said that they will try to release a new version of evasi0n7 for iOS 7.0.6 as the security fix appears to be critical.

Apple has also released iOS 6.1.6 for iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.
