Although it has been many years since iOS 8.4.1 was released, this didn’t stop iOS hacker @tihmstar from releasing a new jailbreak for iOS 8.4.1 called EtasonJB. This might not be an exciting news for many of us, but there are definitely some users out there who are still on iOS 8.4.1, especially those who own legacy iOS devices.
Unlike the new jailbreaks that we’ve seen recently, EtasonJB is an untethered jailbreak that supports 32-bit devices running on iOS 8.4.1. Since this jailbreak is untethered, your device will remain jailbroken even if it gets rebooted, unlike semi-untethered jailbreaks which require you to re-jailbreak every time your device restarts.
EtasonJB works with 32-bit devices only and does not support 64-bit devices. The list of supported devices is as follows:
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5C
- iPad 2
- iPad mini
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
- iPod touch 5
If you own any of these devices and it runs iOS 8.4.1, then you can use the EtasonJB jailbreak to jailbreak your device and begin using Cydia. The process is quite easy. All you have to do is to download the jailbreak from the official website and then sideload it with Impactor. You can then run the jailbreak app from your device to perform the jailbreak. We’ll post a guide soon that will detail the steps for jailbreaking your device with EtasonJB.
What do you think of this jailbreak? Are you still on iOS 8.4.1? Let us know in the comments below.
