Couple of days back, we reported that evasi0n was used to jailbreak 4 million iOS devices.
We’ve an update on those statistics. Jay Freeman aka saurik, founder of Cydia has told Forbes that 7 million iOS devices have been jailbroken using evasi0n in four days.
saurik reports that of these 7 million jailbroken iOS devices, 5.15 million are iPhones, 1.35 million are iPads and 400,000 are iPod touches.
According to him, this makes evasi0n the most popular jailbreak ever in iOS history. He says it has brought “insanely more new traffic” than the Absinthe jailbreak that was available for iOS 5.x.x and even JailbreakMe, which was the easiest jailbreaks as one could use mobile Safari to jailbreak their iOS device.
Evasi0n jailbreak is the first jailbreak for newer iOS devices such as iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPad 4 and iPod touch 5G, It is also the first untethered jailbreak for iOS 6, which was released by Apple in late September.
The surge in traffic from jailbreakers has caused availability issues on several Cydia repositories, which had made it difficult to install jailbreak apps and tweaks initially, but things have gotten a lot better now.
Have you jailbroken your iOS device using evasi0n? If so, which one?
