Following the announcement of bringing Google Assistant to iOS, Google has now made the Assistant app live on the US App Store. The app is only available for iPhone owners in the US for now.

With the standalone Google Assistant app, iPhone owners will be able to enjoy the same functionality that Google Home and Android users enjoy. This includes being able to control their home automation devices, music systems, TVs, lights, and other compatible devices. Assistant on iOS (and Android) will now also support Actions on Google, which allows third-party apps and services to integrate with the assistant.

Additionally, users will also be able to type their queries into Assistant instead of having to speak to it always.

While the Google Assistant app is only available for iPhone owners in the US for now, it will gain support for Japanese, French, Brazillian, Italian, and other languages later this year.

Remember that Google Assistant for iOS does not feature the same level of integration with system settings as it does on Android, so it will not be able to do certain tasks which its Android counterpart would be able to do. On the flip side, Google Assistant’s voice recognition system should be miles ahead of Siri and it works with more third-party apps and services out there.
