Grouped Notifications, the feature we’ve been waiting for at least five years, is here. And it’s quite smart. The notifications are grouped contextually. Apple has added a layer of smarts to what it thinks is the right context. So different iMessage threads will be grouped on their own. The contexts can change depending on the time of the day, the app in question and the number of notifications.
While Grouped Notifications are extremely useful, there are cases where you’ll want to disable them. Only for a couple of apps. If you use a to-do list app, a reminder app or an app for tracking your medicine, you’ll want to make sure that you can see all notifications directly on the Lock screen. In cases like this, iOS 12 gives you an option to change the grouped notifications behavior or to disable it altogether.

How to Disable Grouped Notifications in iOS 12
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Tap on Notifications.
Step 3: Find the app you want to disable Grouped Notifications for.
Step 4: Now, swipe all the way to the bottom and select Notification Grouping.
Step 5: Here, you can switch from Automatic to Off.
Now, the notifications from the app will show up individually.
How to Disable Contextually Grouped Notifications in iOS 12
If an app is grouping notifications weirdly, you can force it to only show all notifications from the app in one stack.
To do this, go to the Notification Grouping section for the app. Here, instead of Off, select By App.
Pro Tip: Use Deliver Quietly to Temporarily Disable Notifications
As we’re talking about managing notifications, you should know about a new hidden feature in iOS 12. In the Notification Tuning section, you’ll find an option called Deliver Quietly. When you select this option, all notifications from the app will go directly to the Notification Center. You won’t be buzzed at all.
