iOS 12 Manage Notifications From Lock Screen

iOS 12 comes with an overhauled notification system. Between the new grouped notifications and enhanced Do Not Disturb mode, there’s a feature hidden in the new Notification Tuning screen that you should know about. It lets you quickly stop notifications from an app to show up on the Lock Screen.

How Deliver Quietly Feature Works

With a flick of a button, you can stop notifications from an app like Tinder or Instagram to from showing up in the Lock screen. But it doesn’t stop the notification system altogether. The notification will still be there in the Notification Center when you unlock your phone and swipe down from the top of the screen. But it will no longer make a sound, or show up when someone turns on the screen of your iPhone.

This new feature is called Deliver Quietly. And it is pure genius. Use it at your will. Don’t want to see WhatsApp notification for the rest of the night but don’t want to go to Settings to disable notifications or turn on Do Not Disturb mode, well, Deliver Quietly is here to help you out. Oh, and it works on the Apple Watch too!

How to Use Deliver Quietly Feature on your iPhone

This feature only shows up when you’ve got a notification sitting in the Notification Center.

How to Turn off Deliver Quietly Feature on iPhone

If you’ve got the Deliver Quietly feature enabled on an app and you want to go back to the default behavior, the only way to do it is from Notification Center. This seems a bit short sighted from Apple. There should be a toggle for it in Settings. We hope Apple adds it in the future.

Step 1: Open Notification Center on your iPhone by swiping down from the top of the screen.

Step 2: Swipe left on the notification.

Step 3: Tap on Manage.

Step 4: Select the Deliver Prominently option.

Now, the notifications will revert to the default behavior. They’ll now make a sound and will show up in the Lock screen.
