I am all about emojis. Honestly, if I would’ve written this entire article in only emoji, I would have. So that’s why I was so happy when Apple decided to bring in 185 more dope emojis to choose from. Why 185? I have no idea, but I know many people who really only upgraded to iOS 9.1 because of this. However, if you are a fan of iOS 9.0.2 and are jailbroken (thus unable to upgrade to 9.1), fear not, you can get most of these emojis too.

Again, in order to partake in these wonderful emoji adventures you will need a Jailbroken iOS 9 device. Once you have that there will be three tweaks that you will need to have. BytaFont 2, Emoji iOS 9.1 Backup D, and Emoji83+.

Step 1.

Open Cydia and download BytaFont 2. For the uninitiated, BytaFont 2 is the main tweak for customizing the fonts across your jailbroken device. While I will only be showing you how to install the iOS 9.1 emojis, there are thousands of other fonts you can choose from within BytaFont and on Cydia.

Step 2.

Download and install Emoji iOS 9.1 Backup (D). Please ignore the other, similarly named tweak.

Step 3.

Hop back into Cydia and the PoomSmart repo: http://poomsmart.github.io/repo. To do so, head over to the Sources tab, next to the Cydia a star. In Sources, tap Edit, followed by Add. Enter http://poomsmart.github.io/repo into the text field and tap Add Source. The repo will immediately be added to your Cydia without the need to Respring.

Step 4.

With the PoomSmart repo added, you can now go back to Cydia and search for Emoji83+. Download, install, and respring your device. Please ignore the other, similarly named [Beta] tweak.

Step 5.

Now that you have everything set, open up BytaFont and tap Swap Mode in the center of the bottom menu.

Step 6.

Next you will tap the Em0ji_iOS 9.1 section. BytaFont will ask if you are sure, and you will tap Yes.  Your device will Respring. Upon restart, you will have those really cool iOS 9 emojis on your device.

Again, this workaround will not give you all of the added emojis from iOS 9.1. Many of the skin tones, and a few other emojis are still missing. But if you wanted the Spock sign, the middle finger, and a bunch of other really good additions, you will be happy with your new emojis.
