Let’s all admit it. There are photos on your iPhone that you would rather not everyone see. Terrible selfies, old baby pictures, or sports “glamor” shots are among the many that you’d rather hide away. In iOS 8 you could hide a photo by tapping and holding on the image and selecting Hide. However, for multiple photos you’d have to repeat this for each individual photo. Woof. But, in iOS 9 you can now select and hide multiple photos in one fell swoop.

How to hide multiple photos in iOS 9

While the reason for wanting to hide photos will be different from person to person, the steps are exactly the same.

Step 1.

Open the photos application on your iOS device and select Album.

Step 2.

Inside the album, select numerous photos by tapping and holding on a photo and dragging to select more. You can also tap each photo individually. Once your photos are selected, tap the Share icon followed by the Hide icon.

When you tap on Hide Photos in Step 3, the selected photos will remain hidden from Moments, Collections, and Years, but still visible in Albums.

Another way to hide photos is to choose the Photos tab, instead of the Albums tab. Here you will again, select the photos you want to hide, and tap the Share icon, followed by the Hide icon.

Since these images are inside of Photos you’ll actually see them disappear once you confirm hiding the photos.

Step 1.

Open the Photos application on your iOS device and select between Album or Photos and find the location that contains the image(s) you wish to hide.

Step 2.

Once you have the image selected, you’ll need to tap on the Share icon in the bottom left corner. This will bring up a menu where you’ll choose to Hide the image. Make sure that the photo you want is still selected with the blue check mark. You can also select more photos from the slider. Next, click Hide Photo.
